Victoria Bulldog Walks

OH MY!

Hey Everyone,

I don't know if you watched Oprah on April 4th.  I did and I am still thinking about this episode in horror and disbelief.  You have to watch it to know and understand what I mean.  If you're a dog lover/animial lover or not at all this will totally change your mind from how ever you look at it.

If you're thinking of getting a bulldog or any dog for that matter you need to watch this episode.  They touch on some huge issues.

Every walk into a Pet store and see those really cute puppies behind the window?  I know I have.  Did you know that in the US 98% of those puppies come from a puppy mills.  Have you every seen what a puppy mill really looks like?

They had a manager Keane Menefee from the Fort Worth Animal Shelter on the show going through the process of what happens to all the dogs that come into the shelter. Here are the numbers. The shelter took in 23,000 dogs and cats in 2007.  So how many were adopted and how many lost their lifes.  They take in approximately 50 dogs per day. Sadly, ONLY 4 of those will leave the shelter and go to a good home. The rest of the 40+ dogs will be put down with euthanasia.
Did you do the math.  Can you image that is only 1 shelter in the US. Add that up in Canada the US and Mexico. OH MY!

They also had the President & CEO of The Humane Society Wayne Pacelle and Oprah's vet Dr. Shelley Rubin on the show talking about spaying and neutering and how they prevent so many things.  Did you know spaying our female dog before their first heat can decreased the percent of breast cancer by 90 percent. Neutering our male dog and decrease the changes of prostate cancer and testicular cancer.  Wow savings on vet bills in the future.  The procedure is quick and simple and will improve your dogs life.

All I can say is watch the show or read more by checking out Oprah.com.
